BMW Series E36 key programming procedure provided. Series Compact/Hatchback (E36) Remote alarm/central locking Infrared transmitter System operation A.Infrared receiver located in rear view mirror. B.Pressing key UNLOCK button deactivates alarm,central locking and immobilizer. C.Pressing key LOCK button once activates alarm, central locking and immobilizer. D.Pressing key LOCK button again within 10 seconds deactivates alarm system gradient sensor. E.Alarm system gradient sensor remains deactivated until alarm system reactivated. F.Holding key LOCK button in depressed position closes windows and then sunroof. G.If key LOCK button is released accidentally, proceed as follows; a.Briefly press and release key UNLOCK button. b.Press and hold key LOCK button. KEY Programming When A.Key batteries completely discharged. B.Key batteries not replaced within 60 seconds. C.Key added or replaced. D.DO NOT press key buttons during battery replacement.
